National Children’s Center Celebrates 2014 Chinese New Year with 3rd Annual Fundraiser

WASHINGTON – On January 31, 2014, Chinese New Year will be in full swing at Ping Pong Dim Sum – Chinatown, with Chinese dragon dancers, musicians and live entertainment, as the friends of the National Children’s Center (NCC) come together to commemorate their 3rd Annual Fundraiser. This year, NCC celebrates the theme of “Engagement, Employment & Empowerment For All” – which spotlights the mission of advocating for employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities in every community and providing them with the resources and training necessary to live meaningful and productive lives. In attendance will be a bevy of special invited guests, colleagues and industry leaders in the field of disability services. NCC is one of the region’s largest providers of services for the special needs community, and proudly maintains the mission of providing a lifetime of opportunities for people with developmental disabilities in the Washington metropolitan area.

The honorees for the evening include Mary Sesso, active volunteer member of NCC’s Human Rights Committee, Chef Furard Tate, owner of Inspire BBQ and guest teacher at NCC Schools, and Deputy Mayor Beatriz Otero, DC Department of Health and Human Services. Each honoree will be presented with an award of recognition for their dedicated service toward advancing opportunities for people with developmental disabilities.

In addition to Chinese-themed bites and entertainment, guests will enjoy an open bar and valet parking as they usher in the “Year of the Horse.” NCC has set a fundraising goal of $45,000 and proceeds from this charitable event will go towards enhancing current NCC programs and services.
