NCC celebrates ADA’s 25th Anniversary

July 26, 2015 marked a very important date in the history of disability services. It was the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). In conjunction with its annual conference, the National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) organized and sponsored a March & Rally on Tuesday, July 28.

This year’s theme was Generation ADA, Rise Up! NCC participants marched from the Grand Hyatt Hotel, to Capitol Hill carrying signs and chanting in support of disability rights! Participants ended up in front of the Capitol for an empowering rally. All the NCC participants seemed to have a great time, meeting new and old friends.

Additionally, NCC held a cookout in celebration of this momentous occasion last Saturday. We celebrated with food, musical acts, comedy, games and dancing.

A group of NCC participants had the opportunity to meet with Congresswoman Donna Edwards (MD) during the march.
