Food Assistance for Families

 

Schools in Washington D.C. are offering free meals to anyone under the age of 18. You can find a complete list of the meal sites https://dcps.dc.gov/coronavirus

Martha's Table will continue to offer no-cost groceries at The Common's Market 2375 Elvans Road SE and the Maycroft Market 1474 Columbia Road NW. For more information, visit their website.

SOME’s food pantry offers non-perishable food items and fresh produce to those who are in need of extra help. In response to COVID-19, the food pantry is currently operating by appointment only. Call 202-695-7816 or 797-8806 for more information.

The YMCA's in DC will be providing fresh produce to anyone in need, regardless of their affiliation with the YMCA. Checkout their website https://www.ymcadc.org/ .

Utilities/Emergency Assistance

 

Residents who are unable to make utility payments can apply for utility assistance online at DOEE.

Pepco is suspending service disconnections and waiving new late payment charges at least until May 1 and will be working with customers on a case-by-case basis to establish payment arrangements and identify energy assistance options call 202-833-7500

DC Water is waiving late fees and offering more lenient repayment terms for customers who fall behind on their bills during the public health emergency. 202-787-2000

Diaper Resources

 

Martha’s Table - The Diaper Bank will be distributing diapers at The Commons 2375 Elvans Rd SE WDC 20020 on Mondays and Fridays from 11am-3pm with proof of child’s date of birth (birth certificate, enrollment in school, immunization record, etc.) Call 202-656-8503 for more information.

Educare – The Diaper Bank will be distributing diapers at Educare 640 Anacostia Ave NE WDC 20019 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am -2pm with proof of child’s date of birth. Call 202-727-5604 for more information.

Internet Resources Free and Low cost

 

Comcast COVID-19 response: offers free WIFI for two months to low-income families and all Xfinity hot spots are free to the public during this time.

Spectrum: offers free internet services for low-income households with students in grades K-12 during this time.

AT&T COVID-19 response: offers open hot spots, unlimited data to existing customers, and $10 a month plans to low-income families.

Verizon COVID-19 response: following FCC agreement

Sprint COVID-19 response: following FCC agreement, provides unlimited data to existing customers, and allows all devices to enable hot spot for 60 days at no extra charge.

T-Mobile COVID-19 response: following FCC agreement, and offering unlimited data to existing customers.

Emergency Housing Support

Behavioral Health Resources

 

Community of Hope's behavioral health team will be working with clients using telehealth (Zoom, FaceTime, or a phone call). Call 202-540-9857 for assistance.

The Access Helpline (1-888-793-4357) will continue to be staffed with a mental health clinician and 24-hour suicide prevention lifeline.

CHAMPS (202-481-1440) is a mobile crisis team for children and adolescents who are having a mental health or behavioral crisis. It is operating normally.

The National Suicide Lifeline (1-800-273-8255) provides free and confidential support and resources for people facing distress 24/7

The Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) (202-673-9319) is a 24/7 operation that provides emergency psychiatric services and mobile crisis services for individuals 18 years of age and older.

Emotional Wellness Resources

 

Yoga Heights will be livestreaming their classes and putting them on their YouTube page.

Yoga with Adriene is a free YouTube channel that has yoga and meditation for adults.

With Love DC offers free yoga and meditation on their Facebook page.

NCC is closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) to ensure we are prepared with our response and contingency plans. The health and safety of our staff and those we support is the number one priority. We are getting daily information from trustworthy and expert resources such as The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Department of Disability Services (DDS), Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR) and the Mayor’s office. Our goal is to be prepared and not panic as we follow our current and enhanced protocols and be ready to quickly make needed adjustments to protect the agency and the welfare of all its important stakeholders.

In terms of prevention, NCC is reiterating the importance of following the CDC best practices recommended for health and hygiene and taking extra precautions in cleaning and sanitizing at all its locations. NCC has also instituted a travel policy limiting international and domestic business air travel across the agency.

 

 

 

Due to the Mayor’s Office declaring a public health emergency in the District to slow the progression of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Early Learning and Early Intervention Center (ELC) will be closed from Monday, March 16th through Friday, April 24th.

    Many resources, including information about how to protect yourself and your family, are available at https://www.cdc.gov/. The symptoms that are currently being seen with COVID-19 are fever, cough, and shortness of breath. If you believe that you’re experiencing symptoms or think you’ve been exposed to the COVID-19, call your healthcare provider before visiting a medical facility.
